Since 2012, Danae Brissonnet has created large-scale murals, illustrations, masks and puppets across Canada, Latin America, the United States, Africa, Asia and Europe. Her colorful, folk-inspired work explores mythology, symbolism, memory and the connection between people, place and imagination. As a muralist and puppeteer, she brings her painted characters to life through performances, giant puppets, costumes and public celebrations created around her murals. Community participation is central to her practice. Through workshops and collaborative painting, she invites people of all ages to create and paint their own characters directly into her murals, leaving their artwork permanently integrated into the finished wall.
